  • July 8, 2008 at 4:31 am Robert Scoble
I follow all 10. Got any other suggestions?
  • July 8, 2008 at 4:32 am Kyle Lacy
Why isn't Scoble on the list? Or did I miss it?
  • July 8, 2008 at 4:38 am Mark Trapp
Kyle, it's based on Mike's top 10 most interesting subscriptions as defined by Friendfeed. If you go to Friend Settings in the top right, then click on Stats, you can see your top 10. Scoble just doesn't happen to be in Mike's top 10.

Would have probably helped if I actually read the entire post. I went straight to the image.

+1 for Franklin Pettit, he's very active here and tries a ton of alphas/betas. Not to mention he had twins a good 2 years before louis gray... he's quite the trend setter :-p

Neat article lots of common interests there!
  • July 8, 2008 at 8:06 pm Mike Fruchter
The FF stats are a great mini snapshot of 10 people we find the most interesting. We all can agree on one thing, the stats are lacking and could use a significant overhaul.
  • July 9, 2008 at 1:42 am Sarah Perez
Wow, thanks for the link love....thaaaaaat explains all the new followers. I was wondering what the heck happened today!
  • July 9, 2008 at 1:48 am Charlie Anzman
Now absolutely confirmed. I've been Mike Fruchter'd (with all due respect to 'the fearless leader' of course).

One woman out of ten people? Shameful. Women are at least half the population on this planet. Your prejudices are showing.
  • July 9, 2008 at 5:11 pm Hutch Carpenter
Out Wrong - there was a discussion about FriendFeed and the gender divide before: http://friendfeed.com/e/128c1e36-a1a9-0206-26a8-eb97e5db5dde/Friendfeed-Like-Factor-and-the-Gender/

Thanks for lovely write-ups Mike! I was wondering what happened while I was off-line for a week (July 7 - July 14). 9 followers in the 24 hrs before your article, and 99 followers in the next 24 hrs (and 6 "people who unfollowed" decided to follow again). I second Charlie Anzman's comment about being Mike Fruchter'ed! Thanks for taking the time to write a little about each person. With your suggestions, I just subscribed to Tim Hoeck & Franklin Pettit...

Is this the A-list back alive again?
  • July 15, 2008 at 12:04 pm Mitchell Tsai
Rutger: As someone who is new to 2008 blogging culture, the focus on followers and A-list/B-list is a strange feeling. In 1984-86 when I used to write, there was no way to tell how many people were "subscribed or following". I'm not sure how many people follow the "A-list" or "B-list" just because the sheer number of blogs is so huge. Even after 3 months of reading FriendFeed/blogs/LinkedIn, I'm barely beginning to get a feel of who people are.
  • July 15, 2008 at 12:08 pm Mitchell Tsai
Without the help of FriendFeed, I'm not sure I ever would have gotten this sense of the 2008 online journalist world....before giving up in boredom. FriendFeed has a way of (1) focusing on good articles & enlivening conversation (2) giving a more small-town feel of people's interactions outside the blog posts. For me, it brings back some of the feel of 1982-1996 UseNet newsgroups, but back then there was no A-list, B-list, or Z-list to follow. Not sure if that's good or bad...
